Granules for Pallet Production — The Right Material for Thick-Walled Parts
The ideal raw material for industrial pallet production is recycled black PP granule with an MFI of 5–12 g/10min and high impact strength. Because pallets are thick-walled products, mechanical strength takes priority over flowability.
How does pallet granule differ from crate granule?
- MFI: While crates need 12–17, pallets perform well at 5–12 — lower MFI means higher molecular weight and better impact strength.
- Density: 0.93–0.97 g/cm³ is acceptable for pallets; light filler content lowers cost and adds stiffness.
- Ash content: ≤ 1.5% works fine for pallet applications — crate-level purity isn't required.
- Price: Economy-grade granule delivers meaningful per-kg savings on low-aesthetic products like pallets.
What to watch when molding pallets
Pallet molds are large with long fill paths. When running low-MFI material, adjust nozzle temperature and injection pressure accordingly to prevent cold weld lines. 120-mesh filtered granule eliminates blockage risk even in large nozzles.
Recommended product
For pallet production we recommend our Economy Series: MFI 5–12, density 0.93–0.97 g/cm³, ash ≤ 1.5%, carbon black 1–1.5%. For higher requirements (food-contact or export pallets) the Injection Series is the right choice.
