PP Granule Prices 2026 — What Determines the Price?
Black PP granule pricing is not a single number — it varies significantly per ton depending on quality grade, filtration level, ash content and order volume. Current prices should always be confirmed with the manufacturer.
The 5 factors that determine price
- Raw material cost: Recyclable PP feedstock prices fluctuate with oil prices and the scrap market.
- Filtration level: 120-mesh filtered granules cost more than low-mesh granules because they require more processing and filter consumption — but they prevent nozzle clogging in your machines.
- Ash content: As ash content drops (≤ 0.5%), the granule becomes purer and the price rises; high-ash granule is cheap but carries mold wear risk.
- MFI consistency: Granules from manufacturers delivering stable batch-to-batch MFI are more valuable — you don't have to keep changing your mold settings.
- Order volume: In ton-scale big bag orders, the per-ton price drops noticeably compared to small batches.
Is cheap granule actually cheap?
If a low per-ton price comes with high ash content, low filtration and fluctuating MFI, your scrap rate, nozzle blockages and machine downtime can multiply the real cost. The right comparison is not price per ton but cost per good part.
What to ask when requesting a quote
- Are batch-level MFI, density and ash reports provided?
- What mesh filtration is used?
- What is the packaging (big bag / sacks) and is freight included?
- Are samples available?
